A Computer Generated Image (CGI) is a rendered view of a digital 3d model. This type of image is entirely computer generated and includes little of no photography in the final image.

This is one of our most popular services and certainly one of the most flexible because we are not restricted to working within real world conventions like we are with a photomontage image. A photomontage is dependent on the lighting and camera angle recorded by the photograph, but a CGI view can ignore such limitations, meaning we have complete control over the lighting, so we can define the angle and distance of the sun and the camera angle can be from any perspective we choose.

In order to produce a CGI the proposed building will have to be modelled entirely in 3d, which will often include the context. The advantage of this is following the production of the CGIs it is relatively easy to prepare the 3d model for an animation, which means a project originally intended for images can be used for other purposes at a future date. Whilst a photomontage image is often preferred for planning purposes we have created just as many architectural CGI’s for successful planning applications, with the added flexibility they allow for future requirements such as marketing.
